Lodge #349 ...A family fraternity
Welcome to the Official Windber Moose website. This page has resently been updated. Please be sure to check out the Calender with upcoming events!
We’ve had a busy couple of months and more to come! I’d like to encourage all of our members to participate in upcoming meetings and functions, as well as invite new members to join us.
In September, the Moose Riders showed our support and attended Brother Denny Manges’s Pilgrim ceremony. The following day, 9/11, we joined with the Bedford Moose Riders to escort Past Supreme Governor Eugene Huggins and Moose International Director General/CEO William B. Airey to the ceremonies at Flight 93 National Memorial observing the eighth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on America. Despite the cold, wet weather, there was a great turn out for the ceremony which included remarks by retired Secretary of State Colin Powell, retired General Tommy Franks, retired Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge, Secretary of the Interior Salazar, and Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell. 9/11 Memorial Ride shirts remain available for sale at both Windber and Bedford Lodges.
We’ve been working hard to plan our Halloween dance on 10/31 to benefit Brent Swaltek, 7 year-old son of Windber Police Officer Swaltek, in his battle with leukemia. By the time you read this newsletter, I’m sure it will have been a grand success! In accordance with our mission, we strive to help those in need in our community. You will soon see the donation canister back in the social quarters for our annual holiday food drive. Please remember to bring in non-perishable food items for local families. If you’d prefer to make a monetary or gift card donation, please see one of the officers. If you know of a family in need this holiday season, please let us know. Additionally, we will soon be selling tickets for a shotgun or $500 cash based on the daily number. The proceeds from this raffle will benefit the family of Ansley Stigers, born on July 23, 2009, in her battle with leukemia.
Some dates to remember: 11/15 meeting at 7pm & 12/20 meeting and holiday celebration at 7pm. As in past years, we’d like to spend some time at our December meeting for fellowship, food and fun. Please mark your calendars as we have some important business to discuss for the upcoming year.
